The Heart of Essentiae

Essentiae produces liqueurs using natural methods and ancient recipes from the Ligurian Mediterranean tradition, in an artisan workshop created in Castelnuovo Magra in the Colli di Luni. The Opificio Essentiae was came to be following a meeting between Diego Bosoni, winemaker and oenologist in the family business, and Fiorella Stoppa, expert in the artisan preparation of liqueurs according to local tradition. Fiorella has been producing liqueurs since 1970s. She opened her small workshop in La Spezia, where she has gained deep experience through studying and researching the ancient recipes of the territory.

We follow the calm ebb and flow of nature, everything occurring step by step.


Local products

At the beginning of 2000, Fiorellaʼs meeting with Diego brought her to Ca’Lvnae, where she became the soul of the Essentiae laboratory. Building upon her life’s work of craftsmanship, Fiorella ensures each stage of processing is done manually, from the preparation of the infusions to labeling. Diego Bosoni and Fiorella Stoppa personally take care of the preparation of all liqueurs. Each liqueur is prepared with high quality raw materials, often from local crops, exclusively in their seasonal  availability. The processing of these raw materials is done with the ancient method of cold infusion excluding the use of dyes and preservatives, as nature intended. Through sensitivity, Fiorella’s experience, and Diego’s passion and research, Essentiae Lvnae reinterprets the ancient recipes creating unique liqueurs every single time.
